Site:
At the german coast of
the Baltic Sea, between the old Hanse-towns Wismar
and Rostock, the village of Rerik
is situated - far from main roads. It is supposed to be one of the
eldest settlements of Mecklenburg, archeological discoveries
give evidence to a colonization more than 10 000 years ago. Several
dolmen are to be seen in the neighbourhood of Rerik. |

| At the small isthmus
- between the Baltic Sea and the Salzhaff
-, which leads to the island Wustrow
, the former fishermens and farmers village `Alt-Gaarz´, which
obtained city-rights and its name Rerik in 1938, offers recreation
and nature pure to its guests. |

| Around 1870 Rerik became
a seasite resort, more than 80 years after the foundation of the
first german Sea-Bath "Heiligendamm" only a few kilometers from
there. The touristic developement of Rerik
was constantly cautios so that the 2100 inhabitants preserved the
romantic and dreamy character
of their small town. |

The gothic
church was build of field stone and its tower above the village
was a landmark for sailors since the 13.th
century.
Vis-a-vis
there is the small house built in 1873 -
in a document of 1897 called "Häuslerei Nr.8 zu Alt-Gaarz". This
former tailor- and fisherhouse with back-building, was completely
reconstructed and modernized in 1993/94 and 1996/97 to the holiday
house Ferienhaus "Dünenstraße 8".
